We were one of FOUR Missions happening simultaneously in Wandsworth thing morning, what a great effort!! If there’s a weed left standing in Wandsworth now, it won’t be because of GoodGym…

Our host needed some help in the back garden as neither she nor her husband could get down to the beds any longer. As we passed through the house, we were shown some family photos, and got to admire her amazing metallic copper wallpaper.

In the raised beds around three sides of the garden were a range of nice flowers to keep, but they were starting to lose ground to the weeds. As such we worked our way around from one end to another carefully weeding with a trowel and fingers. But weeds weren’t the only thing in the beds that were coming out... It wasn’t long before everything including us was crawling with ants! 🐜 Mercifully, despite their huge numbers they were some wimpy British Isles variety so had no interest in, or capability to defend their territory by force, so we were able to carry on working in spite of them.

Our host was in the process of cooking, so throughout the morning we were treated to bits of food along the way, alongside some cooking advice (the way I cook plantains is going to put me in an early grave apparently, eek! 🍌💀)

Once the beds were clear, the fun part! We lined-up the potted plants our host had bought, and she and Catriona devised where they were to go around the garden based-on how much sun they liked, and how easy on the eye they were. After the two hours of meticulous weeding, it was the work of mere moments to get the plants in, and get them watered.

Before we left we all had a slice of watermelon and sat noisily eating that in the blazing hot sun.
