SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Tom Mutton
Twenty tenacious @GGSheff runners ran 4km to help local Co-Op Regather create a local community garden.
After welcoming GG tourist Able Alex to our squad for this week, we had a brief chat about the evening tasks, things to look out for etc, did our headcount and set off with Burly Bash as our trusty back marker.
On arrival at Regather we were kindly greeted with tools at the ready thanks to Gorgeous Gareth and Delectable Doug who made the task happen despite being in a field for the whole weekend and needing some well earned sleep (Cheers Tramlines).
The Tasks
Splitting into groups, we set about tackling this weeks tasks:
Digging up roots (big roots!)
Litter Picking
Edible Hedgerow weeding
Sweeping stairs
Prepping beds for planting
Planting rhubarb and tomatoes
The area is fast looking like something the area, community and good gym can be proud of as a real space that community can benefit from and even eat from!
Exercise time
This week we did a circuit style session with a small run route around the Regather building with some exercises thrown into each loop. These included:
Tuck Jumps
Press Up's
Leg Raises
Lunges
Wall Sit's
Planks
Star Jumps
Burpees
On completion, we counted up and headed home with a sprint finish up the stairs to finish ourselves off before stretching, sharing the latest news and heading in to bid farewell to longstanding member Dangerous Dave who is off to Manchester for pastures new.
Dave, it's been a pleasure mate, you are loved by all and will be sorely missed, come back and visit to retain that streak and continue to bring eating challenges to the groups attention.
Until next time,
Happy Running,
Tom :)
