Lambeth Report written by Rachel (she/her)
As a tourist to Lambeth from Sheffield, I joined Talei and Iain on their first ever GG good deeds (well done!) and return helper Rima. We arrived at Vauxhall Gardens Community Centre, where we met with Melvin and heard all about how the initiative works. They have weekly deliveries from different sources ahead of their Friday food pantry, which has 90-100 patrons each week.
Whilst we were waiting, we were put to work decanting various sauces into plastic containers and opening and separating packs of "Nakd" bars. Just as we were losing hope, one van full arrived, and before we knew it, the next! We unloaded and took inventory, before transferring chilled items to the fridges and leaving items neatly organised ahead of Friday's pantry, including lots of Xmas treats!

Ms F likes to change her living room curtains through the seasons to help brighten up the living room, but isn't able to do so by herself due to disabilities. It was a simple task to remove the old ones and thread on the new pair. Done in a jiffy and back on my way.

Michelle and I met on a drizzly Sunday afternoon to help Mrs C with her garden. After much chit chat, including tales of a family of badgers living under the shed, we trimmed back some brambles from her front garden whilst we were made hot chocolate, ovaltine and mince pies. We then tooled up and headed into the back for the main objective of leaf clearance. We raked, brushed and scooped until we'd filled a giant garden waste bag. It ended up a bit of a mudfest, so it's difficult to tell the difference from the pictures, but Mrs C was very appreciative.

The photos don't quite do the title justice on this one, but believe us it was a WET ONE!
A hardy few headed out to meet David from The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly SUSTRANS) to get tooled up before heading around the corner to a lovely section of the new Grey to Green project in the city centre.
The section of the National Cycle Network that we were working on is next to the river and what will soon be the new public park built on the ruins of the old Sheffield castle.
It is a beautiful area and a fave for people to meet and chat. It also hosts a regular market; 'Pollen'.
Unfortunately some of the Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUD's) areas have become a hot bed for people throwing litter (mainly beer cans) into them. In fairness the SUD's hide the litter well, but it still has no place in the area so we gave it a good clear out.
Despite the at times torrential rain we still managed to bag up around 5-6 big bags of rubbish which Dave photographed and reported to the council via FIx My Street for them to make collection.
Top work team!
Until next time, happy running :)

It was great to meet @Harrison who has moved up from Brighton to the bright lights and big city of Sheffield along with his partner who may join us on a future run. You're both very welcome.
Tonight we headed back to a litter hot spot just up the road from The Riverside pub.
We met Karen, Malcolm and Anna who were all getting stuck straight in. We were welcome reinforcements and got tooled up with bags and pickers and got straight to it flanking each side of the road in a litter picking pincer like procedure.
It felt as though the area was not as bad as it has been in previous visits which was great to see, but there was still plenty to go at.
After a good session and piling up all the bags in one place, ready for reporting to and collection by the council we headed back on a different route to add some variety and give our new GGSHF runner a glimpse of some other parts of the city.
Until next time, happy running :)
