Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
34 runner ran to dig up loughborough junction for planting and to help Rosendale Allotments.
Loughborough Junction Action Group: Our crew of 15 took a gentle jog down coldharbour lane to get to our task. Beneath a set of billboards on the main road, the Loughborough Junction Action Group had plans to turn a patch of unused land into a scented summer garden. A previous goodgym team had removed the grass, our jobs was to dig over the earth, removing roots and rubbish while aerating the soil ready for this weekend's planting session.
We set ourselves a target of 22 mins for whole job, then worked in systematic rows to avoid treading the turned earth back down. With our hosts handing out cups of water, like the support stations in a marathon, we sweated through the work finishing in 26 mins.
Our 4k route back took us up to and through Brockwell Park, and en route we challenged ourselves and each other to sprint through the group.
A quick poll of "which felt like the harder work out: jog with sprints or fast digging?" came out at about 50:50.
Rosendale Allotments Association:
This lot dug it for this well to do Allotments on the East of the borough. Pics up, Tom's run report to follow as as soon as he sends it in.
