Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Paul Salman
Seven GoodGym members met at Stephens house and gardens to help keep the gardens beautiful. We met outside the main entrance of the park and were met by Alison and Warwick. We introduced ourselves and chatted about our favourite UK holiday destination which included Tower Bridge! (You will remain nameless Sally) We warmed up with some on the spot exercises and then entered the park. We were working in the Bothy garden which is an inner garden in the park itself. It has a small lawn and we were given the task of aerating. Regular lawn aeration helps give the grass a proper medium to grow in, as it loosens the soil and creates better air circulation. The grass will also make better use of water and nutrients. Additionally, micro-organisms will establish themselves in the soil and help break down any thatch that builds up. (The things you learn with goodgym!) We worked the length of the lawn using folks to create holes and then slightly lift the soil and roots of the grass. It was absorbing work and the time flew. We packed up and Jennifer took us for a warm down and stretch. Give a shout out to Ivana ( A regular Barnet coach Runner) on her first community mission and to Cassie on her first Barnet CM.
Thanks for coming and doing good.
