Report written by Simon Fitzmaurice
10 brave Goodgymmers fixed up their headtorches, and joined us for a spooky run around Hampstead Heath on Halloween Night. Guided purely by the light of a full moon (and a pre-prepared GPX route), they entered the park via Parliament Hill track, and ascended the slopes adjacent to Highgate Hill. We varied the terrain as best we could, switching between forest paths near Kenwood House, and tarmac straights near Spainards Inn. Other highlights included meeting a friendly bat-dog near Flask Walk (a excitable puppy with bat wings attached), running between the bathing ponds with only headtorch light to guide us, and enjoying a 1 km uninterrupted down-hill plummet from Parliament Hill, back to civilisation. We convened at the Bull and Gate pub, Kentish Town, enjoying drinks and sofas whilst watching pumpkin carving and enjoying festive spook music in the adjacent room.
Great running, folks. Headtorch runs are always better in groups. See you again soon!
