Today we celebrated our 4th birthday with some park fitness games and a picnic. Thank you to everyone who was able to come down to celebrate with us. I actually can't believe that we have been operating for 4 years now and the vast majority of us are still the original crew and as one infamous animation character says...

When you find your tribe never let them go - Wild Knuckles (The Rise of Gru)

We definitely do not intend on letting each other go.

With birthday's 2 and 3 being a bit of a blur, it was really lovely to be able to have a little 'party in the park' for our 4th. We also thought that it would be an ideal time to do our 'pleas for trees' community mission where we watered the sapling trees. Followed by a few rounds of circuit exercises and plenty of food and cake!

Foresome number

The number 4 is actually quite a special one to me:-

  • My door number has a 4 in it

  • I have 4 children (3 real children and a husband)

  • I am in my 40's ...just!

  • We were the 44th GoodGym area to be established!

Statistically speaking

Let's talk maths (but let's not mention the marathon question in the covid quiz!)

Since we started back in July 2018 we have clocked up a massive 3717 good deeds and covered a total distance of 34, 686 km's - that the same as running to central Australia and back and then some more!

Our all time Heroes Leader board is as follows:

  • Manjit 602

  • Sutyee 355

  • Pam 269

  • Jen 255

  • Sara 191

  • Sandy 171

  • Nisha 158

  • Kam 116

  • Harsha 113

  • Jenny 106

We really have achieved so much and you should all be so so proud of yourselves! Well done to everyone who has made year 4 so special.

Your so punny

Over the past year though we have put our hands to keeping Everyone Active litter-alley.

We have Scope'd the way through the streets of Slough dropping flyers to make sure no one is leaflet'ed out.

We've helped Slough CVS with our Corona Virus Services...we definitely boosted the community with shots!

We weeded the way with Slough Refugee Centre, The New Langley Community Centre and Parvaaz with some serious garden makeovers - we don't moss around on these tasks.

Allot of digging took place at the Stoke Road allotments for Home-Start Slough. We can never herb our enthusiasm at these tasks - a firm fav!

We just rolled with it in our painting tasks for Antz Kids, The Artful Hub and St Anthony's Primary School.

No mood swings on our tasks with Ryver Primary School and The Langley Academy Primary School.

We've had streams of tears as we helped Mabu and The Neighbourhood Watch at the allotments, wading in to help clear the stream.

For Cllr Bedi from Slough Borough Council we had loads of fun giving the playground in Foxborough a clean - it's always swings and roundabouts on our task as we got to meet the Dulux dog!

At the Slough Canal we were rubbish at collecting all the litter but 20 plus bags wasn't a bad hoard! Our adopt a patch and adopt a place picks have also given us wheelie satisfying tasks.

Seasons trends sorting at Thames Hospicecare has left us fashionably purse-shoe'ing our dreams.

Another sorted task were the sessions with Terracycle...we tried to keep a lid on that one.

We sent our mask'eteers on many occasions to Wexham Park Hospital for litter picking tasks of mainly...you've guessed it - masks!

And reeding between the lines I think Jen has had loads of fun helping BBOWT with their monthly nature reserve clear up task.

Hollaring at the juniors at Salthill junior parkrun was always a fun task - we had them in stitches in our pride colours as we headed off to do our own fitness sessions - a core-some bunch we are!

Not to mention the numerous donations we have made throughout the year helping the likes of Slough Outreach. Foodbank and Jet Trust for donations for Ukraine, the homeless and those in need - not all heroes wear crepes!

So here it is - our 4th year in review. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making #TeamGGSlough such a brilliant community. . To those who religiously come every week - YOU ARE AWESOME!! To our newest members....KEEP ON COMING... And to those who haven't been able to join us this year - COME BACK SOON?!
