A cracking time

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Slough runner

It was round two of soil shifting at Windsor Girls Schools tonight.

Didem, Helen and Jen met at The Binoy and set off walking. They soon bumped into Agni on her way to the task, followed by Mandy catching our tails as we arrived at the school. Adam met us at the task.

Equipped with a wheel barrow, spades, a fork, two trolleys and 3 bins we soon got to work moving the soil from a lawn at the front to a large planter at the rear of the school, working on pairs lightened the load.

Lots of to-ing and fro-ing, chat, laughter and Mandy's jokes helped the time fly by. Just time to share round the Heroes chocolates Gina had supplied for her 'Goodgym heroes' and a round of activity cards including counting in different languages and it was time to head our separate ways.

Pot-mania

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Sheila and Agnija helped out at Braywick Plant Nursery, helping them get ready for spring. Our first task was to fill with compost, as many 10cm pots as would fit on the side bench. 364 pots later, the bench was full! They are now ready for transplanting plug plants We then moved on to finding all the 2 litre and 3 litre pots in amongst all the hundreds of pots that had been returned for re-use. We soon got our eye in, and there are piles of pots now waiting to be filled.

Plant Movers

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

On a chilly morning Didem and Sheila welcomed Agnija to her first session at Braywick Heath Nurseries. There was lots of moving plants around to do in the outside area, to keep the displays current. We had to keep active to keep our fingers and toes warm! By the end, the displays looked lovely and inviting for customers. All we need now is for Spring to arrive! it was lovely to meet Agnija, and we hope to see you at another community mission soon!

I’ll leave you at the church ⛪️

Slough Report written by Slough runner

Six 'good gymers' met in Upton Court Park on a windy morning to litter pick the green gym and car park areas before walking into Eton. This was our first walk of the year so it was good to catchup and share our news whilst getting some much needed fresh air. Some left us part way to continue their walk, Jean declaring she'd leave us at the church! A welcome coffee was had in Eton and a brisk return walk to Upton.
