Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by JP
A beautifully sunny evening in Richmond was the setting for a spot of leafleting for the Richmond Good Neighbours. This is a fantastic organisation which offers to help with tasks such as might be offered by a 'good neighbour', such as shopping, driving to and from medical or dental appointments, transportation to and from social clubs or to meet with friends and occasionally gardening - as well as a visiting and befriending service. The GoodGym gang was happy to help get the word out to support more people.
We met by Blazing Saddles on the side of the river and were delighted to see Africa for the first time in months - although it was short-lived for most of us as we sorted ourselves into pairs and grabbed a pile of leaflets each. The river was at high tide and was making rapid progress onto the riverside terrace, meaning some of us had to replan our route to avoid getting wet feet - but the sun setting over Twickenham bridge made for a charming sight as we set off.
T and Rebecca went along the river and took a route up into town via Friars Lane. Nearby Salwa and JP covered Old Palace Lane and the Green, while Africa and Cathy headed up to the Vineyard and the surrounding streets. We kept in touch by group chat and met back up after an hour with most of the leaflets successfully distributed.
With another mission in the diary for some on Tuesday it won't be long before we get back to doing some more good.
