Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Luton runner
Run the Sun, a local winter run event needed some help with early morning marshalling at the event car park, and welcomed assistance from Goodgym Luton. Two wide awake and willing Goodgymers arrived at 6.45 Sunday morning to a cold, dark and windy site and met with the event organizers Andy and Rosie to be briefed and take up position. The event attracted a range of runners from first time 5k to experienced Ultra pros, and the 5k lap course opened at sunrise (0801) and closed at sunset(1624), so competitors could fill their boots on a chip timed distance of their choosing. Once all entrants had been safely parked and made their way to the start line, the task was completed. A blue sky morning was revealed with the sunrise, although still super chilly. An option to run the course was accepted by the hardier of the two Goodgymers who literally filled their boots with cold wet mud on the way round. It's January, it's tough, but the Goodgym crew get through it.
