Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Paul Salman
Five GoodGym members gathered together to help St Mary’s Church to sort out it’s railings ready for painting. We met with Helen who explained how we needed to work to remove the dirt, vegetation and a wiremesh from the railings. When we had finished Helen kindly showed us around the ancient church. The church has stone with carvings from the Norman conquest! We then went to see the tomb of John Cartwright, the “Father of Reform” and champion of universal suffrage, who was buried in St Mary-at-Finchley in 1824. In 1835 a monument to him was erected in the churchyard, paid for by public subscription. The monument is a Grade II listed building. Thanks for helping out, learning something new and doing some good.

It will help make the reservoir cleaner and safer for visitors and the many plants, birds and animals that live there.
