A beautiful misty morning and special task in the Essex countryside - and Andy reaching an impressive milestone with 100 Good Deeds under his belt. Bravo.

We met Andrea at Barrow Farm Riding and Carriage Driving for the Disabled to help start a project for a memorial sensory garden, with disabled access and stimulation for all the senses. Our task was more of a digging and demolition job to turn the area into a blank canvas.

With only short breaks for the two minute silence and some tea, everyone galloped into action to chop, fork and dig. Becca made friends with a frog (or possibly a toad) and we all were in for a treat as we met the horses and ponies at the end of the task.

It will be great to see this wonderful project continue and we are booked in again for some more horse play on the 27th: https://www.goodgym.org/v3/sessions/memorial-garden-upgrade-at-barrow-farm-riding-for-the-disabled-8249852c-eae4-4bfb-9d4c-f45ed1edc89e

HomeAbout UsCharitiesGallery & Club InfoCommunityCalendarContact Us Lions are: Ordinary people who belong to one of the world's largest service organisations, with 1.35 million volunteers worldwide active in 208 countries. People who give something back to their communities, who recognise the needs of others and set about meeting those needs. People who enjoy themselves and include fun in their caring attitudes People who give their time freely to help others in their local, national and international communities. Men and women of all ages, who enjoy helping and being part of their community, having fun and fostering friendship Lions clubs are divided into Districts, Regions and Zones (Chelmsford is in Zone B of Region 2 in District 105CE) and nationally (although individual clubs operate autonomously, with decisions voted upon by members of that club). The clubs are non-political and non-sectarian. Lions International was founded in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1917 by insurance agent Melvin Jones and was dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why. Chelmsford Club was formed in 1969 and celebrates its anniversary or ‘Charter' in November. We always welcome new members to our active and friendly club. The aim of our club is to help local causes and community while having fun. As well as a wide social calendar we regularly help out at community events wherever there is a need for extra help (see Gallery pictures). We meet on the second Wednesday each month at our hall in Springfield Road and every fourth Wednesday for a social night (see Gallery pictures) to see just some of what we get up to). We always welcome new members to our friendly, active club. Check out the picture galleries via our social/charities pages to see what we get up to or click on the Facebook link.
