The mission was to help Mrs J get out into her garden again and not feel down about how areas are over growing.

My partner in crime was supposed to be Hannah but she wasn’t able to make it so it was up to me to get things done.

I met Mrs J and she was so relieved that someone was coming to help her.

She had the tools out and ready and let me know the area she wanted to cut back.

I asked if she also wanted her lawn mowed and she said she didn’t think the mower worked as she hasn’t used it in ages.

I set off ripping out all the weed and cutting back the bramble and ripping out as many roots as possible so make sure they don’t come back too soon.

After finishing that area I got the mower out and had a look to see if it still worked. And to Mrs J and my surprise it did! So off I went to mow her lawn too and had that done quickly, making sure I cut back the edges and sweeping the path to leave things tidy and clean.

Mrs J had a near call and came off the path whilst I was there but I managed to run to her and help her up.

I think we forget about the older generation and how much help they actually need, and most older people are too proud to help or don’t want to put anyone out.

We really need to do more to help!!
