Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
16 runners ran 7.5k, cleared a pig pen, emptied a sheep shed, swept up leaves, and moved all furniture for an older lady so that her sitting room can be painted.
Jessie has been running with GoodGym for over a year; as part of her running training she makes weekly runs to her GoodGym coach, Elizabeth. Elizabeth isn't very mobile so she's delighted to receive a visit each week, and for Jessie having a destination to aim for keeps the running interesting. Elizabeth needed help moving furniture into the centre of the her sitting room so that the walls can be painted, so a team of 5 last night ran to Elizabeth's.
"eat our shoes"
The remaining 11 of us ran south for 2.4k to Stepney City Farm. We split into small teams to tackle various tasks. One group cleared the entrance to the pig pen as the pigs tried to eat our shoes and legs, one group cleared out the sheep & goat shed, and others barrowed the waste to the compost heap. We swept up leaves, cleared gateways and shifted a ton sack of rubble into the landfill bin.
impressive pace
After an intense half hour we set off east towards Mile End park. Staying as a group we wound through to the canal, where we opened up a bit, each running at our own pace to the Mare St bridge. Particularly impressive pace from Jake, Phil and Richard who were aiming to catch up with Patrick who had looped back and was running behind them. A nice 5k return leg, completed with stretches at the Arch.
Tower Hamlets
Come and kickstart the weekend with one of our most popular tasks!
