Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Danny
Several groups of us were out nice and early today to help pick-up the pieces from London’s Saturday night as the Coronavirus lockdown eases and people let off some steam.
Remy was out West, and had a keen set of nostrils and sharp jaws on the end of a lead, to help detect and collect stuff. Watson the baby beagle found gin-in-a-tin, salad packaging, and mineral water bottles amongst other things.
Barnet GG co-trainer Paul was on the Heath and found LOADS of laughing gas canisters, but he wasn’t laughing.
Kat and I ambled around the Heath also and found all manner of bits and pieces. Besides all the food, drink and drugs related packaging, there were Armani sunnies (broken) a ripped-up vest, some headphones, someone’s keys, some cash and a paranoid Coronavirus propaganda leaflet.
Alongside 5km or so of walking, the sheer weight of glass made it somewhat physical, and so put the ‘gym’ in the title. Luckily, we were able to find a few places with bins here and there to empty our bags into, and several times ran into people from the Corporation of London in their trucks who could take it off us and give us more bags. Total around 5 black bags full between us by the end of it. 😅
Should be listing more the same/similar for next weekend, and don’t forget if you’re GG Task Force / Run Leader, you can do the same wherever / whenever you’re able to make it.
