Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
25 runners ran between 5-87k to land a hand in Camden
GoodGym Camden runners were assigned 2 tasks this week. One Group headed to help at the Camden Community Law Centre. They provide free legal advice and representation to people who live or work in the London Borough of Camden. Here's what they got up to. (Report from runner Ax-man Zano!);
Group 1= 12 runners, 25 minutes, 34 steps and 115 boxes
After a warm-up with the other group, we headed off on our 2k run to the centre. When we arrived we were led inside a labyrinth- travelling through numerous mysterious stair wells until we arrived at a room full a boxes. The goal was to move every single of them to another room. It would have been easy if the other room was on the same floor, but we needed to descend and climb 34 steps to move them. After 25 minutes we had moved almost 10 boxes each and had stomped up and down more than 600 steps each. On the way back we try to push the pace a little more along- speeding along the canal on a 3,5k run.
Group 2= 13 runners, 30mins, 6 wheelbarrows full of weeds, and a 4k run
The second group headed to Camley Street Wild Park to help out with some hardcore weeding on the outskirts of the park. They are trying turn a piece of roadside near the park into a wildflower garden- allowing bees to propagate and brightening up the local area. Armed with a 6 barrows a handful or forks and a few girly spades (Karolina's words not mine). Being careful to protect anything purple we went at it- clearing an area the size of half of tennis court in 20mins flat.Nice work. We were preparing the area for planting by a group of ex-offenders who volunteer regularly at the park. We cleared things up and headed for the canal- with a choice of a 3 or 4k run home for all.
