Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Cardiff runner
Four super enthusiastic animal loving GoodGym runners made the journey to Worcester on the hunt for giraffes! Not the real things of course but the 30 beautiful sculptures dotted around the city. They had the app downloaded ready to start marking them off!
Lucy had planned the 6 mile route in advance but when the GoodGymmers arrived in Worcester, excitement took over when they saw their first giraffes and plan B took over. The first 20 or so giraffes were in the city centre and were quick to get from one giraffe to the next. At each giraffe a unsuspecting passerby was asked to please take a photo for us... some were more willing and enthusiastic than others. Â We met other people also on the giraffe trail and even one excited little girl who was marking off her final giraffe!
After the city centre giraffes, a longer mile and a half run up the canal followed to reach the furthest giraffe. It was a stunning stretch to run and Aimee enjoyed watching the locks in action.
Back towards the centre we ran for our final giraffes. At number 30 (which was hiding and we had to track down) we celebrated completing the trail with a little video.
Feeling hungry we headed for some well earned food. The trail was lovely and took in all of the main sights of Worcester which we all agreed is a beautiful city. Each giraffe had a stunning and unique design and we all had our favourites; Aimee loved the Girafficorn with his horn and Ben being an ice cream lover of course liked Neckerbokerglory!!
The giraffes will remain in Worcester until the 16th September and will then be auctioned off with proceeds going to St Richards Hospice in Worcestershire. You must go to see them if you have a chance, they are truly a beautiful sight! For more information about the trail take a look here
