When five GoodGymmers arrived at More2Nurseries last night, the to-do-jobs were allotted:

  • Clean the tables and chairs
  • Tidy the children’s play area
  • Clear all the stuff out of that huge filing cabinet at the top of the stairs and then carry it back down with you

Alright?

Yes! We chimed in unison, and we split into groups and started our tasks. Quickly, the tables and chairs were wiped clean, and the play area was tidied and ordered, ready for Friday’s session with the kids. Meanwhile, the upstairs was given an autumnal spruce and books were placed into boxes depending on age category, and miscellaneous items were stored in crates.

And then the filing cabinet was empty…

Eve and I rocked the cabinet towards the open lip of the staircase, and hushed gasps leaked from the GoodGymmers watching below.

Just be careful! Someone shouted.

You’ll kill yourself, fool! Said another.

And then GoodGym back-up rallied up the stairs and we each bore the load. Carefully, we navigated each individual step, and then, finally… It was done. Placed on the floor and ready for collection. True GoodGym-style heavy lifting.

We then caught up with Syd, More2Nurseries's giant African snail, who eventually came out of his shell and gave us a storming rendition of the Frankie Valli classic, Shelly Baby.

And that was a wrap to a lovely, GoodGym evening. Nice one.
