Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Mridula Iyer
Good Morning Goodgymmers! Today one incredibly brave first time missioner (Lisa) and one crap cyclist (Me) braved an enormous garden to help Ms B out in her garden to trim some hedges.
After arriving nearly 20 minutes late thanks to a poor sense of direction and a general bad life decision making, I met the lovely Lisa and Miss B. I had a hard deadline today of an hour (sorry Ms. B) and was eager to crack on. This was Lisa's very first mission, and Ms. B's first goodgym visit, so I tried valiantly to make up for my tardiness by showing my "competence" in the garden.Mostly this was just showboating because I know very little about gardening. Fortunately Ms. B required that we destroy some of her bushes and killing plants. Given that I kill all plants I bring into my home I was surprisingly skilled at this.
Ms. B had a beautiful large garden but she's not able to maintain it because she's recovering from illness and is a bit tired. She certainly didn't seem that way, as she attempted to help us. I doubled up on gloves and decided to attack a large and thorny bramble which seemed to be overtaking a bush. Poor Lisa only had fingerless gloves and keen to give her a first goodgym experience, I decided to brave the brambles. After getting poked a lot, I have now decided I will not be this magnanimous in the future!
Ms B seems to suffer from the same disease that most of us do, which is trying to do too much even though her body tells her not to. She was however the best type of goodgym mission owner because she knew exactly what she wanted and got the work prioritsed. Lisa got to work trimming a hedge, and I tried to claw back as much of a bramble as possible. Ms B gave us direction and told us how sad she was that she couldn't do this herself. However, as good goodgymmers we let her know we loved being ordered around!
An hour went by in no time, and after some weed clearing we were done! Ms B kindly let us just put the brambles out back to get them to dry out and then we were on our merry way! Me to do a 34km cycle to the small village of Ottford and Lisa to bask in the glow of completing her first mission! Till next time folks!
