Originally a Fab Four had signed up for this run but by the time we headed off from Roll For The Soul we had grown to a Magnificent Seven!

It was a glorious sunny morning which saw us head off through South Bristol to the Northern Slopes, this time to Bramble Hill Farm, which always has some fantastic jobs for us to do.

A fairly demanding run involving some good hill work saw us arrive at the farm to negotiate a very muddy entrance and after some slipping and sliding we were soon tucking into the task.

Splitting into two groups, David, Emily, Alice and Chris set about moving some slab wood from the turkey pen demolition that had taken place at our last task there to a new wood storage area (although in Chris’s case this looked more like caber tossing!).

Meanwhile, Paul, Rich and Dave set about helping to dig a bed in preparation for laying a hedge, to act as a windbreak for one of the farm’s vegetable beds.

Then as the bed diggers switched to hedge laying, the wood shifters became compost carriers to add to the beds as the hedge was being laid in a wonderfully coordinated exercise.

Yes there were a couple of muddy casualties but that just added to the fun of the task and certainly good preparation for those taking part in Sunday’s Mud Bath event! Plus the additional mud on shoes added a training benefit for the run back to base where it was time to stretch those tired bodies followed by halloumi flatbreads all round.

Big shout out to Chris for coming up with an inspired pun, with a special mention to Alice for getting the ball rolling in the right direction!
