Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
7 Runners, 6 hoes, 1 lovely local resident and 1000's of weeds
Faced with uncertain weather, we gathered at the reception of the Aquatics centre and welcomed several new runners to GoodGym who were on the verge of a massive feat for the evening. One who had bravely battled a gruelling kickboxing session the day before and was carrying around some serious DOMS, and the other a runner who hadn't battled past the 15min mark in a while...
...Welcome to GoodGym Newham
We made our way up the stairs and reminded ourselves of the impending people traffic that needed to by weaved through in order to make it safely out of the Olympic park and Westfield in one piece. 10mins later we were cruising down towards Plaistow station...Mission accomplished!!
3.5k and we reached Urban Wilderness, the community garden forever presenting us with challenging tasks; this week it was time to get weedy around the pond area. I'm not going to lie, some of those weeds were heavily disguised as endearing plants but we got to the root of it all and removed all the imposters.
Andy took hold of the wheelbarrow and made hasty trips back and forth dumping the discarded weeds that were pilling up. Over half an hour of working by the pond fending off bites and nettle stings and it was time to head back. Several 15second interval bursts later and we were home, back in the park, ready for our cool down.
Thank you everyone for your efforts, same time next week (don't forget to tell a friend)
