I went along to the Monday evening sorting session at Birmingham Central Foodbank, as a last minute place came up, I got an hour of babysitters and had a food donation to take in that my dad had got from work. I had forgotten how hectic this session is, so I had just a chance to have a quick catch up with the shift manager and foodbank manager before the intense activity started. Leon introduced us all around a circle with our names and our favourite fruit. Then it was into the activity, I weighed in donations with the shift manager. Caroline was doing her first shift, so was given a quick introduction before getting into the sorting. It was great to meet Holly and catch up with Louise, if somewhat briefly before I had to leave. By the time I was leaving, even the dating task was nearly done. So another lot of food was nearly ready for distribution on Friday. Once again they were grateful for our support as we combined well with the church volunteers to get a big job done quickly.
