Report written by Richmond runner
For the finale of our #GGSuperSaturday 3 community missions, 9 runners headed to Petersham and Ham Sea Scouts.
On arrival we bathed in the glorious September sun for a few moments while we waited for Scout Leader Russell to give us instructions for our task. We were handed rakes, brooms, a wheelbarrow, spades and "mole" like contraptions (for picking up leaves) and got to work.
Our task was to clear the very busy pedestrian path leading to the scout hut of leaves, as well as filling as many pot holes and uneven surface with gravel....sounds easy right? Well, we put our muscles and stamina to work...there were ALOT of leaves (and conkers!) that seemed to be never ending, but we persevered and made the path look spotless. Also the gravel needed a bit of loosening, so in came David swinging a pickaxe and it was soon good to be shifted into the wheelbarrow and used to make the grounds around the Scout hut look presentable.
Once all our energy was spent and after many , many , many photos we congratulated each other on a job well done...especially to those who had completed all 3 Community Missions today; said our goodbyes and ventured into the afternoon sun for some well deserved lunch.
We will be returning to Ham and Petersham Sea Scouts on 30th Jan so don't miss it!
Well done to everyone who took part in #GGSuperSaturday it was a fantastic success!
