Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Alex Eggs
Goodgym, Mr Car Park. It was GoodGym Tower Hamlets who were sweeping your floor.
The pesky late-spring rain did little to deter 21 GoodGym volunteers this week as we tackled Part 2 of the City Car Park Cleaning Chronicles, as they shall henceforth be known (by me if no one else).
After a short warm up, we jogged over to the task in two groups, one led by Ben and one led by myself. It was great to get a chance to speak to our new starters Jay & Sussma en route to Whitechapel. Welcome to GGTH to you both!
After our arrival we set straight to work, using the ceiling-appended hoses to jet-wash the floor as a crack-team of sweepers disposed of the dust and dirt of the car park floor down the nearest available drains. Well done to all those part of the sweeping teams - it was a heavy arm work out & even Ana had yellow hands from broom handle such was her sweeping ferocity!
It was not only the floor which required a good scrub but the surrounding walls, which are soon to be whitewashed before its transformation into an art space. A few, in particular Hermione, were having a whale of a time with the hose. If 'long-range dust removal from grubby pipes' was a sport, I think we may have found a few Champions...
We headed back to Bethnal Green via Weaver's Field where we played a variation on a raid the goal game. Luckily our task owner surprised us with some brownies & flapjacks which handily became the prize for the winners (and losers but shhhh...)
Congratulations to those reaching massive GoodGym milestones!
It was a particularly significant night for Andy who clocked up his 200th good deed. Bryon also notched up his 200th last week, whilst Becky recently passed an extraordinary total of 450! That's a whopping 850 between them! Fantastic work guys and we look forward to celebrating your next milestones!
Thank you to all those for coming this week. Next week we'll be just around the corner at Rocky Park, then off to Victoria Park for a fitness session. You can sign up to that here & I look forward to seeing you there!

We're back to see Janet at the Cranbrook Community Food Garden!
