Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Lindsay Fung
Tonight we welcomed Jessica and Huw to our group. We hope you enjoyed it, and we look forward to seeing you both again next week.
So tonights "mystery" task was finally confirmed this morning as painting at the Peepul Centre. "Hurrah" we thought, an indoor task on a cold November night. Well, we were indoors, but due to staff illness the painting task unfortunately had been cancelled and we were asked to do some cleaning and furniture moving instead.
10 GG runners arrived at the centre led by Jimmy, Jen and Nicola had made their own way there, to be greeted by Helen with the news that it had all changed. Never mind, our lovely GG members are adaptable so no problem there. Another lady came to meet us and took half the group off to show them what needed doing downstairs, while the other half went up to the gym with Helen. It has to be said cleaning the gym equipment while men were still using it was awkward and we were given some funny looks. One man said he had never known it to be cleaned in 13 years!! We all met up again and the final job was to fold down a couple of tables and stack some chairs. This was done in a flash and our task was complete. Well done everyone. Helen said that hopefully we should be able to go back on Dec 4th to do the painting.
We then went off to do our outdoor fitness session. Led again by Jimmy we ran to our makeshift gym near the flyover to do some step ups on the bench, arm raises, running between the bike racks and a Fartlek run to the lampost and back. Fantastic effort by everyone!
Thank you and see you all next week.
