It was meant to rain - it didn't rain!
A superb gang of 10 gathered for an hour's weeding and bench-moving in the delightful Myatt's Fields Park.
We met park manager Eliza who gave us our instructions and equipment and got to work.
First up was the picnic bench which needed moving from the quiet area to the picnic area (duh). This was no easy feat as the thing weighed a ton and was the most awkward shape for carrying. We took it in bursts, eventually flipping it on it's side to get through a narrow gate. It definitely put the gym in GoodGym.
Meanwhile Frances, Tracey, Shauna & Zara started tackling our greatest foe - bindweed. As volunteering in the park was limited over lockdown, it was getting pretty out of control in the wildlife area. So we were tasked with yanking it up, trying to get at the roots, and not disturbing the baby frogs - cute.
After an hour and a bag full of bindweed (and other weeds the bindweed had suffocated👌), we called it a day and headed off.
Awesome to have totally fresh to GoodGym Joe, Sean(lord of the pun) and Tom with us. Thanks so much for joining guys 🙌
And also nice to see Zara, Michael and Shauna back for their first activity post-lockdown!
Hope to see everyone again real soon. Great work :)
Myatt’s Fields Park is run by a charity called Myatt’s Fields Park Project (MFPP) in partnership with Lambeth Council.
