Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Barnet runner
Five fearless GG'rs helped the volunteers at long lane pasture today as they are getting the space ready for winter.
Long Lane Pasture is a lovely volunteer run green space in Barnet. We've been there a few times of group runs and it's always a pleasure to go back.
On arrival today the skies looked particularly grey and sure enough the rain started soon after, but it takes more than that to put us off. We were supplied with coffee by the other volunteers and got to work. Shaun and I were handed lawnmowers and got to work cutting back the pathways and the clearings. Sarah and Graham grabbed the rakes and rapidly cleared the leaves covering much of the open spaces. Rupesh was handed some loppers (technical term..) and started cutting back the trees around the pond.
45 mins later it was pretty soggy, but we'd got loads done so we joined Rupesh cutting back the trees and clearing the branches away.
The team at the pasture were delighted with our efforts and look forward to inviting us back. It won't be long I'm sure.

It will help make the reservoir cleaner and safer for visitors and the many plants, birds and animals that live there.
