Report written by Adele Prince
On a cold and frosty evening, nine wrapped-up runners ran to Melvin Hall to do some more painting and to clean the windows.
How lovely to welcome a tourist into the Bromley fold this week, hello to Oli, who normally runs with our neighbours in Lewisham (and is a master punner, check out some of his 'work' throughout this report). We hope you felt at home and enjoyed our task!
Paint love grand!
Before heading out (no really, we weren't stalling, honest... and no Jane, catching an Uber to the task is not the done thing!), I told everyone about the THREE community missions we have coming up (yes, three!). There are a few extra opportunities to do good locally, starting this Saturday:
with a community tree-planting at Harris Primary Academy on Kent House Road.
Then, on Sunday December 9th, we have another concert mission. Last time, Stuart and Louise helped out and had a lovely time - do you fancy joining in too? You can find out all about it here and sign up for an extra good deed.
Then, to bring us right up towards Christmas, we have a chance to help our good friends at Living Well, who are having a big sort out on Thursday December 13th. It's an afternoon task, so not ideal for many, but think about joining in if you can, all help will be very much appreciated.
Don't forget to sign up to our Christmas social! It's next week!Sign up by Saturday, so Louise can confirm numbers.
Matt’s the way to do it!
As seems usual now, at about this time on a Tuesday, it was chucking it down. Great. But it was great! We jumped up and down on the pavement, waving our arms around, wiggling our hips and stamping on the ground, excellent. Not wishing to hang about in it, we ran quickly down the High Street (avoiding the massive puddle that appeared to have its own police escort) and arrived safely and soggily at Melvin Hall. We had thought we might be cleaning the windows, but not tonight, so we got on with applying another coat of white paint to the walls.
What a feeling, rolling on the ceiling
As we brushed and rolled, it felt more like we were washing off the last coat, until I found some more paint, 'the good stuff', which went on like a dream and even covered the patch of green that keeps peeping through. We tried once again to reach the high bits, before the big clean up and a nice, warm, indoor fitness session. I say nice, I got some groans thrown at me when I told everyone what I had planned! We had some beautiful 'triathlon' moves (or dead bugs, as Darryl said - see photos) and a jolly good planking, before the final burner, the Sally Up Sally Down special (my thighs are still warm!).
Are you joining us next week? We're very excited to be helping the Friends of Crystal Palace Dinosaurs! Sadly we won't be getting up close and personal with our prehistoric friends (yet?) but spreading the word about their crowdfunder, to raise money for a permanent bridge across to Dinosaur Island, to allow for conservation work and gardening (we have everything crossed that we get to help with this at some point!). Sign up here and remember to wrap up warm, it will be an on-the-move outdoor task!
