Tonight we welcomed 3 brand new runners! Jane, Lenkar and Natalie so good to have you join us and to see Catherine back for her second run too!
We also had BIG news tonight as the 50 good deeds sash was passed on....congratulations Africa for achieving such a milestone! (Back marking and listing a community mission too all on the same night - Legend)
We warmed up with partner workout for strength, flexibility, agility, firing the running muscles and what Mark?? Just good fun I say! Rock, paper scissors while doing the plank was my favourite!
14 of us set off around Richmond town , up church road and back down again to the riverside (including a few roads we hadn't run together before) where we collected tools needed for tonight's task. We were asked to tidy up the scrub land in Terrace Field. Our artillery for the night pitch forks, hoes, loppers and secateurs - Let's do it! We cleared one area of the field of dead fauna and this saw us working in low light on a slant and dodging pot holes, cutting, raking and heaving piles of the stuff to a secret location (in the hedge) with only the glow of the Petersham Hotel to guide some of us ( hate it when I forget my headtorch...ooops). We made a super start and stood back to admire our work (without falling down the hill).

A quick inventory check of tools, litter and bottles for recycling (well done Kate) and we were about ready to head back and although there were a few wounded from nettles we weren't defeated, just better prepared, ready and willing to go back for more!
Once all the tools were back in the shed we headed to our last hill of the night, the meaty Star and Garter before a free wheeling ride all the way down to Wholefoods.
Super fun and a good job done (well at least started)
Now a human photo of the number 17 is needed by next week! hmmmm
