SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Simon Fitzmaurice
During the "Twixtmas" (or the limbo period between Xmas and New Year's Day), 5 Goodgym regulars to our Achilles International guide running sessions caught up at Maida Vale underground station. However, upon our arrival, Danny (a local to the area) alerted us that our track was not open this evening. It was also too difficult for us to head over to The Emirates Stadium together, so we devised an alternative running location on the spot.
Simon had run a lot of workouts with Mornington Chasers RC in Regent's Park after dark, and suggested a trip to the inner circle, a perfect half mile loop within the park itself, rarely disturbed by traffic (and with decent lighting in December!). So we all hopped on the tube to Baker Street together, and made our way to the Inner Circle (also the name of 90's pop reggae band who produced such hits as: "Sweat: A La La La La Long" and "Bad Boys Reply").
The circuit proved to be a success, was little navigation was required from our guides, and there were very few hazards to be careful of, even when running on a shared road, rather than a busy athletics track.. Certainly an option for future running endeavours! To finish off an excellent evening, a few of our group enjoyed some refreshments and food at the local Wetherspoons at Baker Street station before heading our separate ways.
Thank you so much to everyone who has been involved with our Achilles International sessions in 2022- you have been wonderful, and we can't wait for 2023!
