Report written by Madhan
The weather has cooled down after the hailstones and rain around 5pm which made the commute to City harvest a bit pleasant.
Maria and Antoine were already filling the crates with tinned food. So I joined them in the process of ripping open the strong cardboard boxes and filling the crates with as much variety as possible.
We had Tinned Chickpeas, tomatoes, red kidney beans and jackfruit. While filling the first pallet the site manager told us that we are wrapping up a bit earlier tonight. Then Elena joined us and we were filling the crates at a better pace.
Halfway through the second pallet we called it a day and curtains were closed by 7 30 pm. Also we all got a City Harvest tote bag for volunteers.
City Harvest helps put surplus food to good use in a sustainable way, by distributing to organisations that feed the hungry.
