Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Barnet runner
22 wonderful Wandsworth GoodGymmers ran back to Allfarthing School to do some good.
It was a blazing hot evening in Battersea, but naturally our GG runners were able to resist the lure of the park to come and do some good. Firstly we said goodbye to Anthony and Sarah who were seconded to run to a nearby mission - look out for their report separately.
The rest of us quickly warmed up and ran down to the school. Our contact Debbie has set a number of tasks for this group in the past and was well prepared for our arrival: enough paintbrushes for everyone, newspaper on the floor and plenty of paint. We needed to paint a fence, two long flowerbeds and a flower bed and bench. We divided up and got to work. As you can see, we made quick progress and after 20 minutes had finished all of our sections. Debbie even brought biscuits for everyone to fuel up mid paint.
Work complete, Debbie showed us what needs working on next time - there's lots more to paint! - but she was delighted with everyone's efforts. We gathered for a quick team photo before setting off.
Before we headed for base, we stopped at some nearby green space for a quick fitness session. We did some interval running, with some very impressive top speeds, mixed with some squats, lunges and calf raises. That all done it was a nice slow run back to base.
It was a very hot night, but a brilliant effort from everyone. (And thanks for having me Wandsworth!)
