Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
Today I met up with Philippa in Southwark for her first ever mission!!! Woot woot!! 🎉 Philippa is already in simpatico with other mission runners, however, as we independently arrived simultaneously at a local train station (& 30 minutes too early for the mission 😂 Thank goodness for coffee shops! 😉)
We had a very straightforward mission lined up: we were to help Ms B in by doing some basic tidying and weeding on her veranda. Ms B has found it difficult to keep up with as her mobility has decreased over the years, so GoodGym were asked if we could help out.
After introducing ourselves to Ms B, we got started. Luckily, Philippa had done a lot of gardening in a previous life, and was able to point out which things were weeds and which things most definitely weren't. As we worked, we chatted about a variety of different topics, including shindigs, families and, of course, missions.
Before we knew it, we were pretty much done, and took a couple of pictures/selfies for the road (N.B. if it looks like nothing much changed, that's simply because we were concentrating on the finer things in life today, like super small weeds).
Ms B was very happy with our work and kindly offered us some refreshments. We had to decline, as we were both making tracks back into town, but offered her some chocolate fudge in recompense for our lack of company. I think she thought this was a good trade 😉
It was fun working with you, Philippa. Hope you enjoyed your first mission! 😄🎉
