Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
For lunchtime on Giving Tuesday, I met up with James for a mission in Southwark for Mr N. Lunchtime missions are great for seeing a part of the city that you just don't normally get to see properly at night, such as the scaled building shown in today's selfie (no fish lips, because we don't want to be too obvious).
Mr N is currently in hospital and needs some hospital equipment installed in his living room in order to be released home. GoodGym were asked if we could help with this.
After saying hello to our contact from the British Red Cross (also volunteering her time :D), we got started.
Our instructions were to rearrange Mr N's living room by stacking two sofa's on top of his double bed, and to store any rugs in the living room under the double bed. We were also generally asked to clear the space.
It would be a lie to say that everything went perfectly smoothly. However, it would not be a lie to say that both James and I have done so many of these now that a sofa revealing itself to be a storage ottoman mid-move by creeping into an open position warranted little more than a "Figures", while some opening drawers in the base of another sofa just made us rotate the sofa a little faster when stacking it (yay for centripetal force!!). Aplomb is the bomb: Nothing was broken, the only sweat was a result of the central heating system, and we were completely finished within 15 minutes of our start time. Woot! 🎉
Job done, we made our goodbyes to the British Red Cross volunteer (who was staying behind to await the delivery of the hospital equipment), and went back to proper work.
Good seeing you, James: Thanks for making #249 so easy! 😄
