It was a much milder Thursday evening for this weeks Achilles UK training run. We had three VI runners and a lovely array of guides tonight, including four GoodGymmers, with Rachel and Achilles founder Chris having snuck in a sneaky earlier run. After meeting at Maida Vale tube and making our way down to Paddington Rec, the runners paired up and started to may their way round laps of the track.

Paddington Rec The Halls

Helen ran with guide Neil, Tom was supported by a pair of Paul’s, which meant Naqi had the option of Lucy or Tracey. Now Naqi is a speedy runner, and luckily he wanted a ‘slower run’ today, as unfortunately neither of the guides was up for his usual 7 minute miles! They split up and took 7 laps each with Naqi, who thoroughly enjoyed his ‘slower run’. Luckily both Lucy and Tracey enjoyed their runs too - although it did feel more like a very sweaty sprint than the leisurely jog Naqi had!

Ding Dong Merrily VI

In other news, it was Paul’s first time VI guiding. Katie, who was on bag drop duty today, gave him an excellent introduction to guide running. She wanted him to see how it was to run when your vision is impaired, and the duo completed a few laps together with Paul blindfolded.

Christmas Lapping

We didn’t quite manage the 2000 miles that The Pretenders did… But Naqi ran a cool 4 miles, Helen 5 and Tom did his usual 10k. Well done all - and a very merry Christmas to everyone!
