Louise and James cleared weeds from Mrs J’s back and front gardens on a stunning Saturday morning.

By golly it was a beautiful day that greeted Louise and James as they hit the sun-soaked streets of north London for a run to Mrs J’s place where we were to help clear some weeds in her garden.

Mrs J kindly showed us what needed to be done. She has a fabulous back garden space and the weeds clearly thought so too - they’d taken advantage of some recent wet weather to establish a thriving community in between the pavers and stones.

It was a wonder to behold: tall weeds and short; stone dwellers and sky reachers; untrammeled fibrous spurts of every shape, hue and political persuasion; a real showcase of nature in all her uncontainable, irrepressible glory.

Wow, we thought. We must contain and repress this glory!

All good things must come to an end. And all weeds must one day meet their raker. If only every designated undesirable plant were fortunate enough to be gently coaxed toward the next stage of their existence by the loving, good intentioned, highly empathetic yankings of a determined GoodGym-er. It really is a great way to go.

Smartly kitted out with tools, gloves and cardboard kneeboards (care of Mrs J), Louise and James set to and worked methodically around the yard to render this lovely paved area an even lovelier paved area.

Once done, they made quick work of a smaller front garden space and then departed with Mrs J very happy and both parties wishing the other a very happy weekend.
