Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kirsty
After a lovely 5k run in the sun we (Hilary and Kirsty) arrived for a mission to help Ms D with her garden. Ms D has a beautiful garden and has spent a lot of time looking after it but, due to health and mobility issues she has been unable to tend to it over the past few months. Ms D introduced us to her new rescue dog - a beautiful Chiwawa and Korgi mix, who seemed to be settling in with lots of TLC from Ms D. After checking in on the back garden, noticing the beautiful snowdrops and crocuses that had popped up since we were last there (and also marvelling at the fish in the pond that had managed to hide from us completely last time while we trimmed weeds around it and avoided falling in..), we started work on the front garden. Hilary and I trimmed lots of ivy, pulled up weeds and uncovered the garden path that we found underneath. The end result was lovely and tidy but still a bit wild and full of character (just how Ms D likes it). The dog took on the role of inspecting our work when Ms D very kindly brought us a cup of coffee mid-task. The dog sniffed everything carefully and seemed to determined to use the newly cleared garden path whenever possible (we took that as a seal of approval..). We worked hard, filling about 5/6 bags of ivy and dead leaves, and even managed to plant a few bulbs before wishing Ms D well and running back home - mission completed.
