We had a great morning returning to Harbottle Park in the east end of Newcastle.

Mike, the Park Ranger was there to meet myself, Andrew, Jo, Liz, and Miranda (A huge well done to Jo, joining us all the way from GG Portsmouth!!)

Mike, organised as usual, had all the equipment ready for us and we soon got stuck in. We completed a variety of tasks including cutting back the overgrown greenery, weeding, path edging and litter picking.

We focused on one of the entrances, making it more appealing and inviting for people to use the park (see the before and after photos!)

Halfway through we we were very grateful as Mike provided us with cups of tea and biscuits.

It was brilliant to get positive comments from the public walking through the park, especially one man walking his dog, who said he could always tell the difference after we have been.

We will be returning again in June, so keep an eye out for dates/more information.

There’s a greener side to our city. A vibrant, more open side. It should be celebrated, Nurtured, Enjoyed by everyone. Our allotments and parks are the lungs of our city. We’re here to breathe new life into them. We are Urban Green Newcastle.
