Starting today I'm doing Mrs B's weekly shop every Monday morning. Mrs B is a lovely and cheerful lady who is over 80, lives within my community and is currently isolating.

Mrs B sent her shopping request via the Putney & Wandsworth Mutual Aid Group, which is a group of volunteers who live in the area, helping the vulnerable and self-isolating people of our community.

Mrs B and I had a lovely chat over the phone over the weekend and she sent me her shopping list. This morning, I washed my hands before making my way to Waitrose in Putney which is within walking distance from mine and Mrs B's. I arrived at just gone 9 and there was a lovely queue of shoppers. I waited in my designated place until I was able to go in and shop around. Luckily I found everything that Mrs B needed, minus the Fair Trade Italian coffee, so I got her a Nescafe Espresso pot instead which she was happy with.

Once I'd completed the shop, I disinfected my hands once again with hand sanitiser, and I walked over to hers, which is a 5 minute walk from Waitrose. The shopping bags were really heavy so I managed to do an 'arms workout' too! Once I arrived, I placed the shopping (recycled) bags in front of her door before stepping back and giving her a call instead of using her door bell. She came out very quickly and she seemed very happy and grateful to have enough supplies for the week!

We had a quick chat (maintaining more than 2m distance between us) before saying our goodbyes until next Monday for her next weekly shop :)
