Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
"Na, Na, Na, Na...", no Ronan Keating, now is not the time. I'm trying to write a GoodGym report.
On a sunny Good Friday, three GoodGymers found themselves outside Mr. S's place already sweating from the HEAT (yes, you read that correctly) they all endured on their run over. They were there to help move a bed from an upstairs bedroom downstairs. Mr. S is currently in hospital and sadly, his wife is currently in a care home. However, their daughter Paula, who arrived by car, opened up the house and welcomed us in.
Paula took her time to decide whether she wanted the bed to go in the living room or the kitchen. In the end, she opted for the kitchen as there was more space, less things to move around (just the dining room table) and it would force her father to get up and around instead of sleeping in the kitchen all day. He would be able to venture to the living room to watch TV. Yet, he would still have his upstairs bedroom if he wanted to sleep there as apparently he is still mobile.
Unfortunately, since Mr. S's wife is in a care home, we opted to take her bed downstairs as the single bed in the spare room looked broken. We took the bed down part by part. The bed sheet, duvet, mattress, head rest, drawers and finally the base of the bed, which came in two pieces. Ali, Hannah and Sam alternated in pairs as they brought all these pieces downstairs.
Once everything was in the kitchen, they started to assemble the bed into place, but they had troubles with putting the drawers back in the base of the bed as the rollers weren't fitting in properly until they found a tactic. If only furniture made our lives easier...
It was great seeing more GoodGymers again, it was nice to meet you Ali and good to see your face again, Hannah. Hopefully, we will meet again sooner rather than later! Until then, take care and stay safe. 😊👍
