Light brigade, no charge
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Friday, 19th of June 2020
I ran over to Mr D's place to help with buying and changing some light bulbs in his bathroom and living room.
A straightforward task in prospect this and really something of a GoodGym mission bucket list tick. How many times have we given the example of changing a light bulb when trying to convey to new GoodGym runners what a difference they can make in people's lives with even such a small action?
Well now it was time for my own light bulb moment. It would prove an illuminating one.
While I successfully purchased four standard sized bulbs for the living room and replaced the broken one, the cylindrical bulb from the bathroom turned out to be more of a challenge. For that one my visit to the lighting store was enlightening only in the sense that I discovered this bulb is no longer stocked by many stores. On the advice of the man there I've encouraged Mr D to search for that particular model online.
So one out of two lighting solutions found. Hopefully Mr D is on track to getting that bathroom bulb sorted, armed now with the model number to search for. We'll consider that dark room a developing story.
