Report written by Kash
Freezing fingers are not the best to operate a litter picker. But you gotta practice if you want to become a litter picking master!
Kash showed up again at 9:00 am in front of Mill Hill Surgery to meet more people from Acton Litter Collective and help them tidy up the Mill Hill Park area.
Today her assignment was Langley Drive, the pocket garden and Mill Hill Road. When she approached the pocket garden to deal with the leftovers of someone's Friday night dinner and drinks, another unexpected GoodGymer appeared - Sevan! An extra pair of litterpicking gloves prove invaluable as during today's session we decided to separate clean recycling things from other litter, and carried an extra rubbish bag to do that.
At the end of the session, we attracted a new litter picking recruit from the local residents community. It was a great start to the cold but very sunny day!
Notable findings:
car mat
shuttlecock
shin guard
fully loaded nappy, yikes!
The Mill Hill Park Residents’ Association was founded in 2004 with the aim of stopping environmental and architectural degradation in the Mill Hill Park Conservation Area. Much of its work has focused on enhancing the green spaces in Mill Hill Park and the surrounding area. Examples include distributing saplings provided by the Woodland Trust to local residents; redesigning and replanting the Crown Street Pocket Garden, and planting a community orchard in Heathfield Gardens.
