Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
A lovely sunny bank holiday is a rare occurrence but it didn't stop five GoodGymers meeting to tackle the litter problem around Paradise cooperative garden!
With sacks and new litter pickers, courtesy of Wandsworth council, at the ready, we started off in the car park. We were watched (approvingly, we hope!) by the wardens for the prison opposite, and soon began collecting all sorts of rubbish. We agreed that there should be a banned list for some of the things we found, including plastic coffee cup lids, make up wipes and sticky traps for rodents. We cast our nets far and wide, tackling Trinity road and the surrounding areas, discovering that once again the main culprit was those annoying cig butts! Difficult to pick, and harmful to the environment, they were everywhere - although there were significantly fewer once we were finished!
Job done, we headed over to Wandsworth common for a fitness session based on strength and stability. With a friendly dog as our companion, we set about tackling various movements and static holds focused on conditioning and balance. There was some very impressive non-wobbly form on show from everybody!
Next week we're back at Doddington for our monthly session there, hope to see you there!
