Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Today two GoodGym runners headed to Croydon to help Mr G clear out his garden.
Mr G hasn't been able to work on his garden for a few years, and in this time it was completely overtaken by brambles. In the winter, some keen Croydon runners made a start on clearing the passageway. Today, Ivo and Dom spent a couple of hours chopping through and clearing the thick undergrowth.
"I forgot my garden was this big!"
Mr G had been able to stock up on secateurs and gloves, which came in very handy dealing with inch-thick thorny branches, brambles, and nettles. We quickly got into a rhythm; one chopping away at the tangled shrubbery, one cutting the downed branches into smaller chunks that would be easier to bag up. After a couple of hours of intense work, we'd cleared half of the entire garden, which would enable Mr G to get out there himself.
"Never in my whole life have I seen two people get so much done. I'm astonished."
During the work, we chatted with Mr G about record companies, and we ruminated on whether the garden was more of a Day of the Triffids or Little Shop of Horrors type scenario. He was fantastic company, and it was great being able to do so much for him. With more people doing the quick and easy missions prep in Croydon, hopefully we'll be able to do more such tasks soon!

Fantastic work. Rachel and I would love to go back and do some more if we can.

So glad you got to do a second round of Mr G's garden. I can imagine he had a great time chatting to you boys too!

Yup! I think there are a few runners in Croydon in the pipeline to become mission ready, so hopefully we can have one last fantastic effort in the next few weeks!
