Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Shan Rahulan
Goodgymers from Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith and Slough converged on City Harvest for the monthly mission to help organise all the food that comes in. This is a distribution point for a variety of charities and food banks. This week there was a specific assortment being created for a charity supporting asylum seekers.
It's a great opportunity for an upper body workout of tray lifting combined with squats as the team sorted out the food by date and type into crates. It's also a chance to find out more about food (it turns out soy nuts are delicious and peas have milk!).
After a solid 2 hour workout food had been sorted and freezers stocked up ready for the next round of deliveries.
City Harvest helps put surplus food to good use in a sustainable way, by distributing to organisations that feed the hungry.
