Today's task consisted of moving two thin mattresses from under Ms N's current mattress to lower her bed for better access.

As Ms N has mobility issues, we were instructed to contact her carer to get the key safe code to unlock the door. After clumsily entering the code about a dozen times each, we finally managed to unlock the safe, get the key and enter the flat.

Once in Ms N's bedroom, we set to working by removing the main mattress and getting the two thin mattresses out. Much to our surprise, the mattresses were actually several layers of pillows, folded bed sheets and blankets, dusty dresses and old winter coats, and were stuck under a makeshift bed base made of rather heavy wooden planks (one of which turned out to be the mirrored door of a wardrobe!), which we also had to remove to access the two "mattresses".

And so through team work, organisation and sweaty tenacity, JC and I eventually managed to take out the two "mattresses" from under the main mattress and bed base and, after confirming that Ms N did not wish to keep the pillows/sheets/dresses/coats, we set to putting the items in garbage bags to be thrown away.

Well done JC and see you next time (tomorrow)!
