Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Gill (She/her)
I was looking forward to catching up with the other Mr D this week as I was looking forward to hearing about his exercise class. When I arrived he was so apologetic for changing my visit day because of it but I reassured him that there was no problem and wanted to hear all about it. He gave me a brief demonstration of a few of the exercises but said they had really worn him out yesterday so he wouldn’t show me them. He was also thrilled that he had other things to tell me about. His grandson who he hasn’t seen in years had invited him to Sunday Dinner and had picked him up to take him to his home and cooked a slap up dinner. He showed me pictures of his grandson, granddaughter in law and theinlittle boy. It really bought a smile to his face and he is hoping to be able to start a portrait of them. He had also booked a taxi and gone to the monthly life drawing class at the Hat Factory. He wasn’t sure whether he should show me the pictures but was really happy when I said I would like to see them, “I love drawing an painting, but it makes it so worthwhile when someone actually wants to see them,” he beamed. He then asked if I’d been doing any singing lately and I started to talk about the next concert I’m rehearsing for. Somehow we got talking about singers and strings players who use a lot of vibrato. He tentatively asked if I used a lot and then looked relieved when I said I didn’t as I’m not very fond. Phew he said - he didn’t like to say he doesn’t like it in case I was a real warbler. Thankfully I’m not. We talked about the news and especially the post office scandal which he had been outraged by, and then got talking about lighter subjects including his latest crossword puzzle. The afternoon flew by and I realised I was going to be late for work if I didn’t get a wriggle one. A hasty goodbye and I’ll hope to see him again soon.
