Report written by Huw Davies
Christmas is coming, GoodGym are getting fit, please deliver leaflets in your running kit! Tonight we ran to help the wonderful charity Menphys promote their Christmas light switch on delivering leaflets to residences in the vicinity of their shop. We welcomed Martin back to the group proudly wearing his GG shirt on a group run for the first time and bringing news of his entry in the Manchester marathon. We also celebrated our newest recipient of the GG Leicester medal and GG black shirt Sharon. A wonderful achievement completing 50 good deeds just 58 weeks after first coming along to GoodGym. Here's to the next 50, the angel wings!
After a loop through the city centre with Dave and Jimmy stopping to get a pic alongside a classic car parked outside the cathedral we made our way to Shaftesbury Road to collect the leaflets. Splitting into two teams we zig-zagged up the streets parallel to Narborough Road and by 7pm had covered a good footprint of the houses surrounding the shop! Super work everyone!
The runners looped back through Rally Park being introduced to the 30-20-10 drill to improve our 5k speed/times.
Next week comes the long awaited return to Scope for our group run with a bonus chance for an extra good deed on Thursday with some leafleting for the Canal & River Trust and fitness around the Abbey Park Oval afterwards. Sign up for that here, many hands make light work!
Also, look out in this week's fitness email for details of our Xmas bash straight after our final group run of 2019 on Tuesday 17th December!
Happy running, HD
