If you were to choose between a stroll in a park or a run alongside a stinky motorway during lunchtime, which would you pick? I chose the latter.
I love my rule of "no missions during lunch hour on workdays" - it is so exciting to break. Today I broke it for Mr M, a gentleman who lives not that far from my HQ and needed urgent shopping from a supermarket only vaguely local to me. The only reasonable way to get to Mr M and then to the store was to go via the motorway.
I like doing the groceries heavy and on a budget and Mr M's list had exactly what I needed. The order from Iceland was not quite your weekly family shop but still sizeable. Nearly every position on the list had a quantity of 2-5 in front of it. The great thing about Mr M was that he answered either "any" or "I am not fussy" to each question about details of items on the list.
I have never come across something called sausage mash but a helpful lady from East Acton's Iceland pointed me in the right direction and uncovered three packs of these goodies hidden under bean & sausage ready dishes. I actually needed four packs but, because Mr M described himself as "not fussy", I replaced the fourth sausage mash with the bean & sausage.
The way back uphill with my shopping rucksack full and three plastic bags part-full was as good as the downhill run to Iceland. When I arrived at Mr M's and dropped all the groceries, he was delighted. He repeated a few times how much he appreciates my service and reiterated he is not fussy when I presented the flavours and scents of the products I chose.
When I came back to my HQ, it was already past my lunch hour. It shall forever remain a mystery whether I broke the rule "no shower during working hours".
