Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Hilary (she/her)
Jack and I made use of our lunchtime today to help Ms G shuffle around some furniture in her daughter’s bedroom. Ms G’s daughter has a disability and sadly after a bout of Covid-19, her mobility has been reduced, so the main aim of today’s task was to create some space for a more suitable type of hoist to be delivered to them. First thing was to close a gap between two wardrobes, where a mirror had previously been, easier than it looked as the moving wardrobe slid along the floor. The second thing was to move a chest of drawers from next to the wardrobes over the bed and to the other side of the room, which would create the necessary space for the new hoist. This was also easier than it looked because after taking out the drawers, it was light enough to lift over the bed and into place, and we were able to admire Ms G’s daughter’s extensive and colourful belt collection at the same time. Drawers back in place, we were finished more quickly than expected, after wishing Ms G, her daughter and carers well, we were off on our respective cycle rides home in the unexpected sun!
